Basics: Fourier Transform Spectrometry

چکیده

A FT spectrometer is an interferometer. Its historical and most widely known configuration is the Michelson interferometer, shown on Fig. 1. A beam-splitter is used for dividing the light to be spectrally analyzed into two beams. After they have been reflected on two distinct mirrors, the two beams are recombined by the same beam-splitter and sent to a detector. One of the mirrors is fixed, while the other is a movable mirror. When the fixed and the movable mirrors are equidistant from the beam splitter (d=0) both beams travel the same distance before reaching the detector. However, if the movable mirror moved away, one of the light beams has to travel an additional distance δ = 2d (back and forth) called retardation, or optical path difference.

Performing the Fast Fourier Transform with Microchip’s dsPIC30F Series Digital Signal Controllers

This application note describes the basics of the Fast Fourier Transform and how to use a Digital Signal Processing Library. The library and design example use Microchip’s dsPIC30F Series Digital Signal Controller, specifically the dsPIC30F3013. The Transform Analysis discusses the differences between the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and how the FFT is ...

Simultaneous Determination of Hydrochlorothiazide and Enalapril Maleate in Pharmaceutical Formulations Using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry

A new Fourier Transform-Infra Red (FT-IR) spectrometric method was developed for assaying hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) and enalapril maleate (ENM) in binary solid pharmaceutical formulations. Multivariate Partial Least Squares (PLS) method was used for calibration of derivative spectral data. Acetonitrile was used as solvent due to its spectral tran...

Fast Fourier Transform Processors: Implementing FFT and IFFT Cores for OFDM Communication Systems

The terms Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) are used to denote efficient and fast algorithms to compute the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) respectively. The FFT/IFFT is widely used in many digital signal processing applications and the efficient implementation of the FFT/IFFT is a topic of continuous research.
